John O. Markham compiled two volumes of memories and pictures about the history of Black Lake & Delphi, WA. The first volume is a compilation of contributed stories of at least 60 different people. The second volume is titled, "Trail of pictures." It started out to be a collection of pictures of the descendants of Dr. Joseph L. Brown and his brother, Sydney "Tib" Brown. They had come to Tumwater, WA in 1881 and later moved to the Black Lake, Delphi and Waddell Creek area. Pictures in the second volume are printed reproductions that include as many people as possible from the area although most are related.
